Advaita Show Video – Peter Kennedy, Rebel Priest, part one

Today I spent an hour chatting with rebel Catholic priest Peter Kennedy in his South Brisbane church St Mary’s.

Peter’s “sins” include talking about and promoting advaita and trying to include homosexuals and women in his services.

“I started preaching about adveeta, ’cause Bob encouraged me to”

    Cameron –

Having been raised in a religion that detests any questioning of the unreasonable and illogical nature of religious beliefs (Mormonism), I get a certain amount of perverse pleasure seeing the cracks in the facade of the so-called truth. Maybe I shouldn’t, but I certainly can’t feel guilty about it (insert Bob’s voice here “Who is there to feel guilty?”)

I think that it is inevitable that the whole organized religion game should eventually be reduced to its original role: a stepping stone to spiritual maturity, a belief system that should be discarded when its usefulness is ended.

That said, I just stumbled on your podcast/blogsphere a few days ago and am enjoying the past conversations with Bob and others. Keep up the good work. Oh, by the way, the Rolls Royce is in the mail…I am sure you will receive it soon. Just add it to Bob’s collection.

    Werewolves of London Draw blood”

Will the Rome Catholic church ever be inclusive?
Does the Pope shit in the woods?!

    Hey Curtis

    Welcome to the show.

My current girlfriend and my ex-wife were both raised Mormons, so I know a bit about what you’re talking about. I’m currently engaged in a lot of debates with mormons about Prop 8 and their history of bigotry with their ban on inter-racial marriage. They absolutely HATE talking about their past.

I have a feeling that the role of organized religion has always been the make a couple of guys very, very rich.

    Cam –

The latest around here (Utah) is that it is the place with the happiest people. Somebody did a survey I guess.

What most Utahns forgot is that previous surveys revealed that Utah has the highest percentage of people with subscriptions to porn websites and also the highest per capita use of anti-depressants. Related? I sure think so. HA!

I’ve given up talking to them about their history – it is like talking to a wall. They just vomit up the party line and close their minds.

Dear Cameron I think power is the drug of all religions, not money! Who do you think is the happiest religious group?
