Well it was fun while it lasted but I think the general consensus today was that this show has run dry. There’s nothing left to say. No questions left to ask. No new answers left to give you. Nothing new to say that Bob hasn’t said ad infinitum over the last 27 shows. So thanks for tuning in over the last 6 months and for playing The Advaita Game ™.

Let me summarize what we have learned from his Bobness…
Find out who is asking the question and the questions will disappear.

You are already that which you seek.

Thank you and goodnight.

To take a good look at my thoughts makes me run away!” “I’ve been trying to PISS the fartherest to show how great i am…..i have no clue, my kundalinin linguini is in knots!”

  44. David says:

    Hi Bob and Cameron –

Listening to your show with all the light hearted, Advaita filled bantering between you and Bob and Elliot and guests has been really great to tune in to every week. My wife Sandy and I make copies of the show onto disk and pass them out to friends.

I know who I’m not but somehow, it does the heart good to hear the message again and again even though it’s all been said before. You will never know all the (non) beings you reach with these broadcasts.

I hope this is only a brief sebatical and that you’ll be back on the air really soon. Again, the message and the words may seem repetitious to you, but for many they are like a living nectar – the sweetest non dual ear candy on earth.

    We love you guys

  45. Gareth says:

Thanks for the “Advita Show” it was totally awesome and totally
pioneering. Who would ever have thought that I could virtually be in
Bob’s house in Australia asking questions and getting answers about the nature of reality?
Hope something like it comes along again soon.

    All the Best

    The Nondual Highlights

This issue considers the cancellation of the podcast, The Advaita Show featuring ‘Sailor’ Bob Adamson, cancelled because there was nothing new to say. (Here follows) commentary which questions whether there is really nothing new to say.

“Nothing new to say,” they say. They cancelled the program.

From the extreme nondual point of view there is no one and nothing being said. The extreme nondual point of view is that there is God without a second. If there is only God there cannot be anything else, therefore it is God “without a second.”

Then why has God, Truth, or Nonduality reserved for us the domain names of our lives?: firstmarriage.com, religiousschool.parents.net, lousyexlover.org, myguru.tv, sitdownandshutup.info, and the ever popular horrificabuse.com/mental-illness.htm.

Even though there is God without a second, we still want to say, “Wait a second. If nonduality means there is only God, it means there are not two things; there is nonseparateness. But why do things seem separate? When we’re feeling pain why can’t we remember there is only God without a second and then suddenly feel better? Seems like it’s more a matter of there being God without a Seconal.”

Things seem very, very separate from God, Truth, or nondual reality. However, no matter what we do or how smart we are, we cannot find a bridge that reaches from our lives to some place or condition we know as nondual reality. We think we can do something to find or to build such a bridge, but isn’t that an admission that nonseparateness is not the case? How can that be? The Kabbalah responds to talk of such a condition in the same way my mother responded back in ’65 to news that I wanted to take a shiksa to the prom: “God forbid!”

Here’s the passage from the Kabbalah in its entirety: “Do not attribute duality to God. Let God be solely God. If you suppose that Ein Sof emanates until a certain point, and that from that point on is outside of it, you have dualized. God forbid! Realize, rather, that Ein Sof exists in each existent.”

Islamic tradition, as set forth by Ibn Arabi is very similar: “If you think that to know Allah depends on your ridding yourself of yourself, then you are guilty of attributing partners to Him – the only unforgivable sin – because you are claiming that there is another existence besides Him, the All-Existent: that there is a you and a He.”

According to the above two passages, the Jews and Islamics agree perfectly. (“Oy, I’m plotzing!”) There is only God, Allah, Truth, Reality, Nonduality. Reality is nondual. There is nothing to do other than “Let God be solely God,” say the Jews. We cannot rid ourselves of ourselves, say the Islamic teachings.

On the one hand we know there is nothing and no one and nothing new to be said, and on the other hand we feel the opposite and that there is lots to say. So what’s going on?

These teachings quoted do not say everything is the same. There are in fact distinct things, people, conditions of joy and misery, situations, objects. What is being said is that those things are nonseparate from God, Truth, Allah, nondual reality. They are not “one with” God. They are not blended into God like a smoothie. Those things and God are “not two.” Please look at something in this poem which was included in a recent issue of the Highlights:

I live far off in the wild
    Where moss and woods
    Are thick and plants perfumed
I can see mountains rain or shine
    And never hear market noise
I light a few leaves in my stove to heat tea
To patch my robe I cut off a cloud
Lifetimes seldom fill a hundred years
Why suffer for profit and fame?
Ask yourself: Is this poem a blended smoothie of mush? Look and see that there are very distinct, individualistic elements within this poem conveying nonseparateness from God. Great poetry and art present extraordinary individuality. So does nature herself.

Things become more distinct when embedded in the recognition of the nature of Truth, which is nondual. Writing about the design of buildings, the architect/theorist Christopher Alexander says, “In the moment where…non-separateness is attained in a thing, and it truly becomes one with the things which surround it, it stands out shining with an extraordinary power. … This is, perhaps, the central mystery of the universe: that as things become more unified, less separate, so also they become most individual, and most precious.”

Things are nonseparate from God. Since that is the case, there is no need to be a smoothie maker such as John de Ruiter who poured this out of his sacred blender and onto his home page: “True life begins with profound honesty. Only such wholeness of orientation can reveal pure beingness, and allow recognition of our authentic, true nature, reflecting its pure, inviolable, Absolute source.”

Compare de Ruiter’s words to the poem above. Those who understands nonduality or nonseparateness are the opposite of smoothie makers. They are the geniuses of individuality and preciousness. Everything quoted in this letter, including my mother, is individual and precious. Only de Ruiter’s words are homogenized nothing, which he uses to bring people into his website and world.

Nothing new to say? There is much new to say. There are distinct things to bring forth and no end to them. They are nonseparate from God, nonseparate from Truth, nonseparate from Allah, nonseparate from the Absolute. They are the URL’s of our lives and the web pages within them. Because they are nonseparate from God they have to be extraordinarily distinct, individual, and precious.

That one series of podcasts with ‘Sailor’ Bob Adamson ended does not mean there is nothing new for Bob or his producer to say. It does not mean they do not share the understanding set forth in this letter. It means there was no longer the inspiration to create within that form.

    –Jerry Katz

  49. graham jones says:

Fantastic format. It had its lifespan but I think the magic ingredient was humour. Not to say that humour is what it is about but to use humour and lightness of touch is what is needed. The problem with enlightenment is that it is regarded as heavy duty, man. Its light duty. It’s what we all are but the ‘heaviness’ of life corrupts it/us. This is why balanced and sane people aren’t interested, they think it’s too serious for them.
Thanks Bob, Cameron is a star and Elliot is superb. Not that any of you really exist and neither, of course do I.

  50. Corey Vance says:

Ok, since the show is now gone and I won’t get any more I need to ask this question. It seems that all of you out there agree that show 26 was the best, most profound, etc. of all the shows. When I listen to it I hear no answers at all. Cameron finally asked my question and I got a vague sort of response that was only slightly related to my question. Can anyone shed some light on why show 26 was any better than the others. It seems Bob hardly even spoke during this episode and when he answered my question he never finished his train of thought. ( I know many of the things I’ve said here don’t make sense from an Advaita perspective, but I DON’T HAVE THAT PERSPECTIVE AND DESPERATELY WANT IT. So please refrain from the usual Advaita cop out answers like “who’s asking the question?” )

I felt as if I was making progress spiritually, but since the show has been gone I think I’ve lost some of that understanding. Sometimes, it seems my study of Advaita adds more anxiety to my life than it takes away.

    Any Advaitans in Rochester, NY?

Please throw the kid a bone.

    thanks,
    corey

However negative this post may seem, I am forever grateful for the time Cameron and Bob have given me/us. I feel it’s the closest I’ve ever been, or will be to having a guru.

  51. Mark says:

    Hi Corey,
(First let me say I feel like a ghost having popped by this forum to see if anything had happened!)

Corey, much as I loved the Advaita show, I too felt frustrated by the way some of the questions weren’t entirely taken seriously or explored more deeply. Much as I loved the laughs, I felt many of my own questions were pretty good and were dismissed. I felt that the show had a lot more potential for teaching, but what are you gonna do, it’s a free show, and I learned a lot from these guys.

I also didn’t think show 26 was the best. In fact, I thought the last show was one of the best!

I too was feeling that Advaita philosophy plunged me deeper into anxious thinking and questioning. It seemed to conflict with ‘reality.’ and didn’t feel very practical.

But here’s the thing I wanted to say to you.
Listen to the shows again….What I got from it is that there is no spiritual “progress” to be made, because you’re IT already. There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way. That’s what Full Stop means. Stop searching for THAT ANSWER. When you stop, you’ll be it. Bob and Cam and all the gurus have to take craps everyday, just like me and you.

Bob keeps repeating that there is no independent entity here at all. Cameron keeps saying there is no “free will”. And you know what? Even after listening to all that stuff, trying to wrap my head around it, I still don’t really buy those things. They just don’t make sense to “me”. Call me ego-ic, or whatever. I mean, I understand that underneath the questions and behaviors, is ONE silent, peaceful consciousness, which takes on different patterns. We’re all “God” in disguise if you will.

But I’m going to take from Advaita what works for me, and leave the rest. Other religions, other philosophies, might help me enjoy life more, or bring greater peace. Mainly, just chopping wood, carrying water, eating, enjoying the simple things, doing work I love that benefits mankind. Doing good while you’re on earth.

As Carmella Soprano said in last night’s episode of “The Soprano’s”, as she marvelled at the statues in Paris that have lasted for centuries…
“It seems like all we do is worry, and it all just gets washed away.”

  52. Mike A. says:

Here is a funny Australian clip. The guy kind of reminds me of Cameron. Maybe it’s just the accent:
    http://www.break.com/index/gettheeffout.html

  53. Cameron says:

hey Mike, that’s a great clip. To put it in perspective – the hosts of that show are really the hosts of Australia’s most annoying morning TV show “Sunrise”. And the “guest” is one of the hosts of our best political satire show “The Chaser”. Very funny guy. Obviously a fake clip from The Chaser.

  54. Cameron says:

Corey, I might be moving to Rochester in the coming months! So you can beat me up in person for Show #26 when I’m there.

Regarding your question – why is knowing that everything is THAT freeing but knowing that everything is atoms isn’t – either one will have the same “effect” if it leads you to the understanding that there is no independent entity called “you”.

While you “desperately want progress” you are still believing there is an individual entity that can make progress. Where the hell did you come up with that idea?

  55. tan says:

    Hi Cameron,
sorry that you are not moving to Munich.
I can assure a “good beating up” and of course … Weissbier.
    🙂
    Take Care

  56. Richard says:

Okay Bob, Cameron, and Eliot, you’ve had enough of a rest. Let’s get back to work on the show.

    Sincere thanks for the memories.

    tan,
When is the next plane to Munich?

  57. Stuart says:

Yeah, rest over 😉 How about doing a few special one off shows with the likes of Tony Parsons, or Nathan Gill. I’m sure there are others that will happily talk about nothing.

    Stuart.

  58. Cameron says:

    are there any questions?

  59. ravi says:

    Hi Cam, Bob,

    there are always questions mate!!!

    Questions:

    1) what is beyond consciousness?
Wolinsky’s new book ” You are not” and others seem to talk a lot about it, is that the
    ultimate ???

    2) How come Bob can give satsang for 30 years but the show runs stale in 6 months,
isnt this satsang as well??? pls re-start the show. really looking foward to it.

    regards

    ravi

p.s Hey !!! all you listners of the advaita show pls ask questions, whats wrong with u guys, c’mon …

  60. Richard says:

    Okay Cameron & Ravi,

My question is: if people ask questions will the show be revived?

By the way, I thought that clip was hilarious. On the other hand, my wife hated it.

  61. Kevin says:

    Hello Cameron , Bob

    I have a question.

Why can’t I think of a single question, I used to have loads but used to rely on others asking them , which was pretty good. Then the show stopped .
I go onto all the sites about advaita hoping to see new material etc etc … and suddenly realise that ..hey i’m not really concentrating on this , its beginning to repeat itself, and it feels strange ,, I go to bed at night not really worried about anything in particular , unless I wake up after having a disturbing dream or wake after one of those dreams where you can lift your self off the ground just by concentrating really hard..and feel pangs of dissapointement

However I would like it (the show) to start up again as I really enjoyed it for many reasons, but haven’t any questions anymore, which in a way is good, I quite like this.
Went camping at the weekend with the family and really enjoyed it even though it was pissing down with rain (North Devon, England) before that would have been hell … what’s going on here … nothing seems to get to me anymore …is this it ?
Or have I just basically got over my midlife crises ?

Anyway love to hear the show again if not for me for others out there who still have questions. You never know I may wake up tomorrow feeling like shit !

    Cheers
    Kev

  62. Mark Carpenter says:

    Hi Cameron,

Thank you very much for producing this show, it has helped me tremendously. I discovered it just as you were ending it. I was going to send a thank you message to your xbox live account but thought that would come off a bit too stalkerish.

The one joke you made about Nisargadatta being the Michael Jordon of Advaita was hilarious.

I think it would be great if you re-incarnated the show as a monthly thing but if not that would be understandable.

As for questions not so far covered…

    1. Nisargadatta said somthing to the effect of a ‘Jnani would know another Jnani if he met him’ is there any truth to this in Bob’s experience?

    2. Bob’s explanations make perfect sense, however if ordinary everyday awareness is all the enlightenment consists of why did Ramana Maharshi sit silently in a cave apparently blissed out of his gord and then let people go around calling him Bhagavan? It makes me wonder if there isn’t somthing out there with more gravity then what we are talking about.

    3. Would be very interested in hearing about any stories that Bob has about his time with Nisargadatta.

Thank you Bob and Cameron, it would be great to come to Austrailia and visit one day.

    Mark,
    Canada

  63. Eliot says:

    Hello Advaita Show Fans!

    An announcement:

There’s a brand new audio CD of talks with Sailor Bob now shipping and can be ordered directly from Bob’s website.

It’s filled with countless fresh pointers from recent talks with Bob in Melbourne.

Listen, and ‘return’ to where you’ve never left!

The CD can be ordered here:

    http://members.iinet.net.au/~adamson7/book.html

    Cheers,

    Eliot (from the Advaita Show)

  64. Richard says:

    Eliot, my friend,

Is this CD a compilation from the Advaita Show?

    Thanks,
    Richard (from life’s show)

  65. Mark Carpenter says:

    Hi Eliot,

Loved your comments on the show. I don’t think you are going to sell a ton of Cd’s with all this free stuff on here and a title like ‘Melborne Talks’. I have some new title suggestions that may send sales through the roof.

    1. The Next Step: Parabraman
    2. Sailbor Bob: You are going to DIE
    3. Green Dragon Level
    4. Your Untapped Enlightened Powers
    5. After That: Infinity and Beyond
    6. Sailor Bob: Manifesting your Desires
    7. Love Ya!

  66. Richard says:

Think of it like this. If you benefited from Bob, it’s a chance to give back. Plus you’ll have a CD.

  67. Eliot says:

    Hi Richard,

The CD is a compilation of talks from the regular meetings Bob has 3 times a week in Melbourne. It’s a chance to hear and resonate with the message in great depth.

  68. Mike A. says:

Yea, I too would love to see the show come back, even if it’s only once a month or sporadic. I remember liking the shows when there were visiting seekers talking to you guys.

  69. Mark Carpenter says:

    Hi Richard,

    Good point.

  70. Corey Vance says:

    Cameron –
Thanks for the info. If you do move to Rochester, or just visit, shoot me an email. I don’t really do the group thing, but I’d love to talk with one who is so close to his Bobness and firmly believes in the absence of an independant entity.

I guess I need to do more exploring of where the center is. Unfortunately I’ve found all inquiry into the “I am” to be fruitless. The “I am” seems to be the proof of separateness, of individuality. If all is inteligence energy, but we can never see, hear, touch or even intellectualize it, what is the point of giving a shit about it? Many times my studies into Advaita make me think “So What!”

Water is actually not water, it’s Hydrogen and Oxygen mixed together. With this knowledge do you feel free or enlightened? Of what importance is it if it’s external or outside our experience?

Sorry about the rant, I didn’t know it was coming.

    thanks,
    corey

  71. Richard says:

    Corey,
Hope you get a legitamate answer to your question.

Until then, just an observance, maybe correct or not: In the above you say, “I don’t do the group thing”, “I’d love to talk with”, “I need to do more exploring”, “outside of OUR experience”, etc.

You seem to be identifying with the mind/body mechanism which needs to explore, which has things outside its experience, and so forth. Maybe that’s ‘your’ difficulty?

  72. Corey Vance says:

    Richard,
I agree with you. Maybe I should start typing “this body mind organism” instead of “I” like Advaitans do, but everything in my experience says I am an I. I’ve been trying to explore the “I am” but as I said, it seems to turn up a definitive “me.”

Are you trying to tell me that you, Richard, didn’t type the above comment? Somewhere, there is a guy named Richard typing on a computer. Richard and the computer may be made up of Intelligence Energy, but if that’s completely outside our experience, then why is it significant?

I would love for my looking for a reference point to prove fruitless, but they don’t. The reference point is right here at this computer and it’s me. If you or anyone has some more specific advice on how to free myself of this I’d love to hear it.

    thanks,
    corey

  73. Cameron says:

Corey, far be it from me to play the guru, but as Bob isn’t here, I’d suggest you start by defining what this “me” is that you claim to be.

  74. a. n. other says:

    ahem

Who is to “define the me?”

Corey points out that intellectual understanding is crap. Painted cakes. Menu not the meal.

The idea that ‘someone’ can ‘discover that there is no one’ is just idiocy. if there is nothing and no one WHO is going to lOOK? You cannot have it both ways. That is sloppy and misleading and brings only frustration, in the experience here of all this.

The idea that ‘someone’ can make or do some sort of full stop is the insanity that a false identity can see through itself! Oneness itself, and only oneness itself, can drop the idea of a ‘me’ … the intellect, bright and clear to itself, in it’s clarity, CLAIMS ITS OWN ABSENCE. Clarity that there is no person has nothing to do with the actuality of BEING no person.

It’s a someone claiming to be no one. a subtle felt sense of an entity that now whispers (or shouts) “I have got it now … this is IT … I am free …”

Pure unadulterated ignorance. Sorry guys. It’s crap … and that delusion of having ‘gotten the Big IT” will go … and when it does, you will want to kill yourself because “you” had it and “you” lost it… paradise lost, and then “much weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Listen to this from Oneness … if ‘you’ dare … Oneness will murder you if and when It does. Meanwhile you will claim to “know oneness” and that claim will go on protecting you from the murderr’s knife. And that too is the Play of Oneness.

“The Open Secret message turns the whole idea of personal endeavor and attainment on its head.

This is a * non-prescriptive communication that does not compromise the seeker with offers of being able to gain permanent peace, joy and the end of suffering. *

This clear and simple message speaks of a revolutionary perception where all traditional ideas and even contemporary teachings of becoming something better or different collapse. Its illumination is in the energetic, vibrant aliveness that is implicit in the wonder and liberation of simply being.

It requires no effort and demands no standards. Being timeless, there is no path and no debt to pay. When this is heard and confusion is no more, the contraction of struggling to ‘get something’ falls away, and the one constant boundless energy of being aliveness is celebrated as all there is. ”

    Tony Parsons – June 2006 … http://www.theopensecret.com

In The Oneness, There is no one. Nothing ever happened. All is appearance. Etc.

Perhaps. BUT … Believing that is the curse of the false clarity and will make for a big crash and burn … This one has been there, people. Over and over.

There is NO HOPE, fellas. NONE. No matter ho hard or how smart you work at it, no matter hoe earnestly and sincerely you look, you will never catch your own tail.

  75. Richard says:

    Corey,

    Excellent advice from Cameron.

Also, you can call Bob (and other teachers) on the telephone.

In addition, there’s a link on these pages for AdvaitaNow. You may have already posted on that web group site, I’m not sure. Anyway you can post your question there and will get a variety of responses, some wise, some humorous. And you can take what presently applies and makes sense to you, and set down the rest.

  76. Cameron says:

Charlie (aka a n other) – who suggested there was a “who” or a “someone” to look? The seeking is spontaneous functioning. What else could there be?

  77. marcelo says:

I had a question! Just one. I can’t seem to find anyone that will speak about, the homosexual desire that stayed after I become a seeker.

Could anyone point me too someone? Please, no high and mighty-ness. I seem to get that any time i ask.

I’ve probably asked a stupid question… but we homo’s get no help.

    m

  78. Gary says:

    Marcelo:

You question seems perfectly reasonable. I don’t claim to be the last word on this issue, but here it goes…

Seeking doesn’t mean that all attachments go away. Self-realization is spontaneous action without attachment. BUT if it is your nature, your part, to be homosexual, then why should it go away? It is no different than being heterosexual, or a celibate. If it is not in your nature, it will drop away. Things are as they should be. Of course we could have a go at what you mean by “I”.

Feel free to post your question on AdvaitaNow..
    http://groups.google.com/group/AdvaitaNow

  79. Richard says:

    Marcelo,
    Gary said good things.
The AdvaitaNow group is full of advice and opinions.

Gangaji speaks to things of a personal nature. You could write her a letter (not e-mail). http://www.gangaji.org is her website.

Many on, or finished with, the spiritual path are householders, married, and probably have sex. On this site there are Bob and Cameron who are married (not to each other). Others are Nisargadatta, Papaji, Gangaji, Aurobindo, and so on.

I don’t see how anyone, a woman or a gay man, can find men attractive. Why the species has perpetuated is beyond me. And why the term ‘gay’? Does this make the rest of us morose?

Anyway, best of wishes to you. Don’t be too tough on yourself or take yourself too seriously. Nisargadatta said, “Be who you are and don’t be who you are not.”

  80. marcelo says:

Thanks for the replys, but you know, as is the case with me, I found my answere within a day of posting. Damn advaita teachers! It was something that Wayne Liqourman said.

And I used the term ‘Gay’ because its common. My desires aren’t ‘gay’ but they seem to allow men. And whats the deal with why men are attractive or not, and perpetuating species crap? Who’s being too serious now?

    but thanks anyway.

  81. Gary says:

    Eliot:

Loved the “Melbourne Talks”. That expensive digital recorder provided a very clear rendering, as did that ole sailor guy. Fine job and congratulations to no-one.

  82. Richard says:

    Marcelo,

Glad you found what you needed. This isn’t the first time someone asked for advice and then criticised me for giving it. Although your question contained guidelines for responders, my opinions, when requested, can’t be contained. I’m a compassionate avadhoot and my roses often contain thorns.

My comment about perpetuating the species was meant in a humorous way.

If I ask for advice, I take whatever applies and drop the the rest, appreciative that someone would care enough to respond. But I realize, everyone doesn’t think as I do. My wife of 36 years says I’m from another planet.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

p.s WHEN DOES THE ADVAITA SHOW RE-START ???? DOESN’T ANYONE ELSE CARE???????

  84. Steve of UK says:

    Hi Ravi
The senior Teacher AJAHN SUMEDHO on the web site you recommended above was one of my main inspirations.
I would really like Bob, Cameron and Elliot to hear him ( Now you have brought the subject up!!)
I am sure he understands the mind/That in a very clear way.
Though he is also happy to talk about relative truth improvising on insights and themes like a world class jazz musician.

Yes i would like the Advaita Show to restart….It will at just the right time (if it ever does)
All is Well and unfolding as it should.
    With gratitude from Bournville, UK
    Steve P

  85. Cameron says:

Ravi, I havent spoken to Bob about it yet. Been too busy. We did play telephone tag a couple of weeks ago though. Let’s see what happens. 🙂

  86. marcelo says:

    Hi Richard
Maybe I am too serious about this shit… but am trying to find some ease, this seems to be going, very, very slowly… I have this memory of family members telling me that all homos should be shot and killed… i heard this alot growing up as a kid. And I guess hearing mum threaten to kill my ass didn’t do me a world of good at 9 years old, it created some sort of stigmatizing memory, relationship problems etc, which lead me to question stuff early on, I guess… I did find Bob and Cameron, and Nisargadatta maybe because of it… who knows, it wasn’t of my doing or hers, just shit seems to happen- the whole ‘shit happens’ line is wrong, I get that now- shit only seems to happen, even when your wiping it off your arse.

I get the whole no free will stuff now. Thanks to Cam actually, I am starting to lighten up alot… so thanks Cam! I reckon Cam should do a Aussie translation for I am That.

I do get a lot more than I can say, or write!

Especially when I get quiet, there is no need for explanations. I am also not trying to ‘get it’ when I’m not quiet- like Cam said… just riding the wave.

Although I heard the word poofy once form Cam, I mean seriously Cam… is it the eighties still?

Can anyone tell me if I need to do something to hang with El Bobness? Do I need to call, or e-mail to sit in on one of his talks?

I am moving to Melbourne for work In July.

    Thanks
    Marcelo

  87. Richard says:

    Hi Marcelo,

Sorry if I was insensitive. I never meant any harm and often have trouble putting myself into another’s shoes. I write down many quotes as reminders and one of them is what a co-worker once told me, “You know Richard, sometimes you can be a real jerk.”

I have three sons, now adults, one of whom I thought, for some time, might possibly be gay. And later when I met some of his friends, I know some of them were, so this reinforced my thoughts about him.

We never discussed his sexual tendencies, nor did it make any difference to me. Of the three, he is the nicest and the one I most like hanging out with. Of course, I love them all.

A non tolerant attitude is, I think, a result of insecurity. All parents are amateur parents. I may also be insecure, but it doesn’t show up in that way.

Someone whom I spoke with had visited Bob, attended the public meetings and also private sessions. They say it was originally arranged through Gilbert Schultz. You are fortunate to have that opportunity.

    Best wishes,
    Richard

  88. Cameron says:

Marcelo, hehe, i think I only use the term “poofy” when I’m deliberately trying to take the piss (another good aussie term for ya!).

No free will dude. No individual to have free will.

No special thing you need to do to hang with his bobness, just ring and make an appointment. Call me when you get here: 0400455334.

  89. Puppet Boy says:

Hey. Mrs Utty. You out there? Is this a blog? Who am I?

  90. marcelo castro says:

    Richard
It’s all good Richard, I can never be truely upset by anyone. Messaging isn’t the best form of expression. I’ve also found that Advaita types maybe arrogant sometimes(like me) but there is always humility in the end.

    Cameron
I am trying to get the ‘no free will’ stuff, there is agreement on a profound level. It just seems tuff, in my environment to let go when your pulled down all the time…

Hold on, if there is no free will, then does that mean that no individual has an issue with it? Since there is no individual and things are just happening. Man, that just sounds like the entire thing is against me or against itself… duality has a problem with it, not the singular non-thing? That kind of makes sense… if we were all homo then how could this go on? Oh… right, it’s not going on.

I now see the appeal of hardcore drugs.

    Marcelo

    p.s. that was a joke

    Thanks Cam I will

  91. Mark says:

I’ve listened to every show and “I” still do not get the “no free will” business. It makes it sound like we have absolutely no control over our behaviors, choices, actions, or decisions. Like we’re floating in the breeze with an “oh well, we can’t take charge of anything in life” attitude. Which sounds like total rubbish and flies in the face of everything logical.

there is no independent entity here? Maybe. But the patternings of our personalities and natures are different from each other. Something or someone is calling the shots of how the person called “Mark” lives and decides and acts.

Many other religioius/spiritual teachers teach that “God gave us free will”.

Exactly how is there no free will in your life Cam? And no snappy answers about how there’s no independent entity to have a will! Examples please!

  92. Cameron says:

hehe. You have to do more than listen to the shows to see through the illusion Mark. But yeah. There is no entity. There is just spontaneous functioning. Free will assumes there is someone who is in charge of the thoughts/actions. Can you find evidence of such a someone?

  93. Richard says:

    Cameron,
Are you still planning a trip to the U.S.? (The question has nothing to do with free will—just curious.)

  94. Cameron says:

yeah mate I am. As soon as I close the current funding round for the podcast network. Which will HOPEFULLY be this month. Anyone reading this who would like to invest in the world’s #1 podcasting business, please email me. 🙂

  95. Mark Carpenter says:

I had a problem with the ‘no free will’ thing too untill it occurred to me that I am the intelligence that is operating here. When people say ‘you are just God’s puppet, you have no free will’ it implies that somthing actually exists that is helpless and has no free will, and is bound to make grave errors because there is no control! Where as none exists. I don’t claim to have figured this out completely but it gives me some peace for now.

If you ever start up the show again Cameron don’t bother with the questions I posted before. Goodluck with the podcast network. I checked out the Father Bob show, when you said “Jesus was the Wolverine of his time then?” it was priceless.

  96. Tan says:

    Hi Cameron,
good luck getting the TPN into growth.
Any ideas on how to merge this with DVB-H that some operators are trialing in Europe?
    Cheers
    Tan

  97. Cameron says:

Thanks Tan… but I have no idea what you just said! 🙂
Can you translate that into english?

What do you buy an enlightened being for Christmas? They just don’t seem to want anything.

  100. Richard says:

If they think they are an enlightened being, perhaps a CD or book by Bob or Nisargadatta may help. If you think they are an enlightened being, perhaps the same may help you.

  101. Bob Seal says:

    Beings have Presence! 🙂 LOL

  102. Richard says:

pun=the lowest form of humor. But I love them.

  103. Helen says:

Elliott – thanks for CD of March, April talks. Excellent. Will there me more CDs? Or perhaps you might think of taking up the microphone to resume the podcast? You did such a great job the last time? 🙂

the last advaita show was april . . . It’s amazing this thread is still active!

  107. Bob and Cammeron

Thanks for putting on this great show and making its material availabile. This mind body would very much enjoy it if you decided do some more of these.

I think there are many people that would love to listen to and participate in this show if there were knowlege of it happening. In the case here, awareness of the show only happened after it was finished. Its likely that if you keep going this will become a worldwide broadcast treasure in terms of the message of the one.
