We Apologize For The Break In Our Transmission

Ok, confession time… I recorded a rip-roaring show this week with Bob and Eliot, the best show, I think, we’ve done yet. It was a KILLER. It was a special edition dedicated to Gilbert and Charlie. I was sure this show was our defining moment. Everything Bob said was beautiful, everything Eliot said was beautiful, and I said nothing.

When I got home an hour later to edit it, before I could get the file off of my shiny Apple iPod, the hard drive failed on me, yet again. Sometimes it corrects itself in a couple of days, so I’ve been sitting here…. watching the kettle boil… so far – nothing. It’ll be a shame if you don’t get to hear this show, cuz I really think you cats would have dug it. But there you go. See Gilbert and Charlie? I tried to give you want you want but the Universe had other plans. So maybe that’s a sign…

Cam, Hope somehow the show can be retrieved. Oh well.

Bob, James Braha’s post invited you back to the U.S.A. Is it possible that you might return?

Should we look at the world as unreal and to be ignored, or as Divinity manifested and to be affirmed?

Finally: What is the highest teaching?

Thanks much for your help and compassion.

  2. Mark says:

Wow, that must have been very frustrating Cameron. Thanks for your efforts.

In the meantime, for those Advaita Show fans looking for an alternative listening experience to tide you over till the next show, I want to recommend an incredible lecture by Alan Watts on iTunes that I downloaded today.

It’s called “Do YOU do IT, or does IT do YOU?”

It’s over 4 hours long, $18 US, and worth every penny. He validates so much of what Bob and Cam discuss, and he has an incredible ability to use metaphors to help make the teachings easy to grasp. I think Sailor Bob would approve.

  3. Whats the sign? iPods Suck
    😉

  4. Tony in Byron says:

Love the show shame about the technology. What happened to Motorola, did that dude like get those nachos or what? Who is that even wants to know this?

  5. misa says:

yep, universe has will of its own

  6. Craig says:

I was beginning to wonder if you were, unconsciously, holding the show hostage, for ransom (top ten votes)…..wondering what possible motivation you could possibily have for caring that the show is so “popular”! Now, I’m wondering how you came up with your interpretation of “the sign”. (Oh yeah, it isn’t “you”…..it’s Consciousness!) Well, you might look to see if consciousness isn’t a little self-serving in this interpretation. There are other possible explainations of “the sign”! (Anyway, “it doesn’t Really matter……it’s all mind stuff!”. Who’s mind is it? Since it is all ONE mind, none of it needs to be either rejected or accepted…..just is, what it is…..All of It. The what is it, at any given moment, can’t be known…..but it can sure be interesting ! Good luck with the the “process” you are going through……what was it that screwed the podcast up…..and what is it that will bring it to us in it’s untainted clarity? A very worthwhile endeavor for the “apparent you”! I’m “cheering” you on, Cameron.

  7. Craig says:

P.S I don’t think anyone wanted you to “say nothing”! I wonder who it is that “thought” you should shut-up , completely?

  8. LOL and ROTFL and … LMFAO
e-mail [email protected] if ya need translation :-))

  9. the highest teaching?

there is no teaching no teacher no disciple

    no thing

    just This

  10. no universe
    no will
    no own
    no one
    no other

    nada stop.

  11. Pablo in Buenos Aires says:

    oooooh god noooo!!!!!!!
how could “YOU” do this to “ME”?????
    hehehehehehehe

Every show so far has been great and very helpful, I guess we will just have to wait a few more days till the next one

I love the show, and you and Bob, and Elliot

    Thank You

    Cameron

I was going to get an Ipod. Now I’m not going to get the shitty buggers.

What do you recommend as an alternative to the Ipod?

    take care
    Brian

  13. Mike says:

    Hi Bob and Cameron,

Love the show. Ok, here’s a question:

I’ve been seeking for years. It can be fairly miserable at times. My older brother, who happens to be very wordly and “normal” sometimes says, “You’re wasting your time with all that spiritual stuff. There’s nothing to find. Just give it up”. When he says stuff like this, I can’t really disagree with him. He seems to be saying the same thing as Sailor Bob and others! How is what he saying any different from what you’re saying?

    Thanks,
    Mike from San Francisco

  14. Cameron – is the technology which makes “podcasting” possible dependent upon Apple’s product?

Wonder what’s next – blackberrycasting, perhaps?

    Waiting for more…..

  15. Doug Downs says:

Alan Watts is great! The other one you can find on Bit Torrent by Watts is “Out of your Mind” it’s 12 disks. I’ve been doing the same thing no Bob and Cameron? Well then I guess it’s Al tonight.

  16. Richard says:

Charlie, Thanks for answering my question.
Bob Seal, I have your “Omnipresent” on my mirror. Great!

People, Do you miss the Advaita Show? Do you have an insatiable craving to hear the next one? You may have Advaita Show addiction (ASA)! I am forming a new group called Advaita Show Addiction Anonymous (ASAA). Anytime a member gets that Advaita Show craving, they call another member who comes over their house and they get drunk together.

  17. Kevin says:

Yes Richard, I have sort of become quite reliant on a my weekly fix and have been checking every now and then , there is an element of craving and desire
Eventually it will come along and the expectations will be very high.
Hopefully our expectations will be met , but after a few hours we will only want more

  18. Kevin says:

So its 2:20 am is it ?? its 22:24 here in england what time zone is this ?
Who wants to be the first to say …time is an illusion ?

  19. Frank DeShaw says:

too bad your ipod became enlightened

but what happened to that $700 piece of equipment that Bob has?

    COME ON get it together

    withdrawals are setting in
    frank

  20. Cameron says:

well folks, i think that show is lost forever. The ipod is still screwed, and I think it needs a new hard drive. At one stage it did seem to come back to life, but when I tried to retrieve the interview, it told me that file is corrupted. Ah well. The universe has one sick sense of humour.

  21. Gareth says:

    Hi Cameron,
Thanks for the Advaita show cold turkey I needed to get weaned off and to
    “get a life”.
In the meantime perhaps you can answer a techie question for me.
How do you record onto your (now defunct) ipod ? I have one of those
Belkin plug in mics for mine and the quality is Total shite.

  22. Bob Seal says:

Obviously the message coming through here from the oneness is . . .
There’s nuthin to understand, there are no questions or answers, so there’s nuthin to hear, by no-one. Wow, that ipod’s really got it. Omnipresent ipod!

When will we all be still and silent and listen to the (guru) iPod! 🙂 LOL

  23. Cameron says:

Gareth, I’ve got a couple of condenser microphones that I plug into the TOP of the Belkin iTalk which, as you say, is rubbish by itself. 🙂

No longer though will I rely on the mighty iPod! Oh no! From now on, I will record it directly onto my Tablet PC.

  24. Gary says:

This isn’t the proper forum to promote Allan Watts, but that said, you can “Google” “Alan Watts” and “podcast”. His son sends out regular lecture highlights. A real accomplishment considering that he is long gone. Both his books and lectures are highly entertaining, but just as “The Advaita Show” isn’t “it”, so A.W.’s podcasts are just pointers. So, a disengaged mind might be of more use:)

  25. Richard says:

    Hi Kevin,

I think the times on our posts are inaccurate (not really Australian time). To figure world times you may go to http://www.timeanddate.com.

    Best wishes,
    Richard

  26. Mike says:

    Cameron,

I just read some of the comments in the archives where people think you joke around too much and you said you would try to joke around less. BS! Don’t cave in man. Just keep being yourself. If they don’t like it, they can start their own show. It would probably put people to sleep though. The Advaita Show is the most entertaining expression of truth teachings I’ve ever come across. It’s actually a little bizarre. It’s also a little sneaky and might make this stuff more accessible to folks.

    Mike from San Francisco

  27. Luly says:

    hi Bob, Cam, & Eliot,
too bad about the last show. ces’t la vie!
i’m sure everyone missed it. i did.
how easily we become habituated to patterns!
    which brings me to this question;
i asked this question before but you didn’t get to it, for whatever reason.
    the question is about all the habituated patterns;
once we see, clearly, that we are not this body/mind there is a dropping off of a lot of the emotionality and investment attached to believing ourselves to be something separate. however, there still remains a lot of habits, i.e., deeply inbedded patterns. and that’s alright on the whole, but some patterns/habits can be rather difficult and sometimes even destructive. what do you all feel about psychotherapy as a way, or means, to debunk or disippate habitual patterns? or does therapy just reinforce the identity?
thanks for all your efforts in recording the shows, Cam.
    Luly

  28. Cameron !

Us MAc users are worried you’re gonna blow it again M8.

There could be suicides, nervous breakdowns and who knows what else. And because you don’t got the picture yet…. you would have to take the blame, and we know that’s what matters.

Don’t let it be your fault again……..

    Luv Karl

  29. Dale says:

Charlie Hayey has a place on his web site to donate money to Bod Adams. Is this for real? If I give money does Bob receive it?

  30. Dale says:

    Hayes…sorry about the type-o

  31. Cameron says:

Dale, it’s legit. Charlie has passed money to me in the past which I have in turn passed onto Bob. I’ve been meaning to set up a paypal donation link for Bob directly on my site but want to check it with him first.

  32. Cameron says:

Gary, fine with me if you promote Alan Watts here mate. I read some of Alan’s stuff when I was very young and enjoyed it a lot. I seem to recall his autobiography was a great book.

  33. Mark says:

Glad to know it wasn’t out of line for me to promote Alan Watt’s lecture in this forum. I did it in the spirit of giving and sharing with our little community because it’s so completely congruent with Bob & Cam’s Advaita teachings. If you haven’t yet heard it, I tell you, it is marvelous. His metaphors for explaining how “IT Does YOU” really bring it home. Like Sailor Bob, he keeps saying “the key word is “Pattern”.

Like Bob, he likens us human beings to constant fluctuations of patterning, like how a candle flame flutters and changes shape yet still keeps it’s recognizable “identity” as a candle flame. He describes how the vibrations that create EVERYTHING we see move either very fast or very slow: like how the blade of a moving chainsaw moves so fast it appears solid, so do we…. so do rocks.

He also gives a nice metaphor for the way how life moves us. Not sure how this part fits with the non-duality concept, but this makes sense to me: He says to the extent that we have something called “WILL”, there MUST be something called “WILL NOT”. Just like how a coin must have 2 sides. Or how in order to see a star we must have black space behind it. And that “WILL NOT” is LIFE, moving us. We can resist it, attempting to apply our WILL to control it ( resisting life ) just like trying to keep a squirmy cat in your hands, or we can move in harmony with life, release our grip, let it go….

  34. donations to bob usually get sent to eliot who cashes the paypal in and passes the necessary food and rent wherewithal to bob … if eliot is traveling cameron is also able to do this as he mentioned…

you can also send bob a check and i can assure you it is much appreciated. it is a simple expression of gratitude for the generous sharing of bob’s direct experience … and i am a bit disappointed actually that there have not been more contributions but that too is the functioning of Totality .. it is what it is … that said, hey non-people, vote with your wallet…

life is good here thanks to bob. how about there where ‘you’ are?

    come say hey.

  35. Craig says:

    Hey Cameron,
What’s happenin’? Another Tuesday went by and no podcast again. It would be much appreciated if you could inform us as to whether there will be another podcase, and if so, when (if you know). Thanks

  36. Linda says:

    Hi Mark,
I was trying to find the lecture you were talking about but I am not having any luck. Do you have a website address?
No show last week has resulted in an interesting pattern of events. I am observing this reference point constantly hitting and rechecking the Advaita Show website, to see if there is a new show yet. This reference point is quite pathetic really!!

    Cheerz.

  37. Cameron says:

Craig, Eliot agree to do the show for me this week, but I don’t have it yet. But rest assured there will probably be a show this week. 🙂

You’re looking for the next installment? 🙂

  38. Andrew says:

    It’s the favorite reality show

  39. Mark says:

    Linda,

Hm. I don’t know if there are different versions of iTunes in different countries, but I’m from the US and my iTunes Store does have the lecture. I just typed “Alan Watts” in the upper right, and a few of his lectures popped up. “Do YOU do IT, or does IT do YOU” is the title. If you can’t find that one, another good one is “Learning the Human Game” and “Myself: A Case of Mistaken Identity”…..both of which can often be found on cassette in local Barnes & Noble bookstores.

  40. Cameron :-0)

Contrary to what Bob says, we are here…… waiting

Non Being does not mean Non Showing or Non Listening

Bring back the Advaiti Lingo……… and when is only NOW !! 🙂

    Karl

  41. Gary says:

    Cameron:

Since you seem so responsive to suggestions… I would like to request that you do your show your way. If I want to put on a Podcast, then I’ll do my show my way. Your earlier shows were a very good balance between serious/humor and Bob/Cameron. Humor helps to animate the message. Besides, humor relaxes the mind and we do want the mind to release the tight grip. Also, your guests have been a good addition. Ultimately, the technology will allow for live shows and audience interaction. That would be even better.

  42. Luke says:

    Dear Cameron/Bob

Absolutely loving the show. Has brightened my life no end. Maybe that means this no me should get a life…

Eagerly waiting the next installment and will withold my podcastalley vote until it duly arrives.

I see you’ve slipped from the dizzy heights of the Top 40. I imagine if you want to hit the top 10 you’re going to have to hit us with something big. Maybe fancy dress vidcast with Bob as the sailor.

    Love,
    Luke.

  43. Steve of UK says:

    Hi Bob + Cameron
Would it be possible with skype to to have phone in guests?
James Braha could explain about the clock and his book.
Douglas Harding + Richard Lang talk to you guy’s about Headlessness + space.
Mark West talk about the days with Nisargadatta + Bob.
Tony Parson’s + Ramesh would all be illuminating guests.
Your thoughts………On the other hand if you never do another Show…Thank you
    Steve P
    Bournville, UK

  44. Cameron says:

Luke, I think you’re right. So here’s the new deal – get us into the Top Ten and I’ll dress Bob up in drag for the next video podcast.

Steve, yeah we can do that. Not too hard. I do Skype-based shows all the time.

  45. Luke says:

    That’d be great Cameron.

I think village people style. Bob obviously as the sailor, Eliot as construction worker and you as a biker… I think that’d go to No.1

    Luke.
